Elected car of the year in 2016, the Renegade is one of the best-selling cars in the country, with more than 85 thousand units already produced.
Elected the 2016 car of the year by Auto Esporte Magazine, the success of the Jeep Renegade is undeniable. The second best-selling and most desired SUV model in Brazil, the Renegade has surpassed the mark of 85 thousand units produced in the country, with more than 75 thousand units registered, in the domestic market alone, since its launch.
Designed to be a global car from the FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) group, the Jeep Renegade has already been launched in several European countries and also in the United States. In Brazil, the SUV is produced at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Automotive Hub, in the city of Goiana, Pernambuco, which supplies most countries in South America and Central America.
In January of this year, the Renegade came in first place in sales in its category. Now, it holds the second position, fighting fiercely for the lead, against two other giants, the Honda HR-V and the Renault Duster .
Inspired by the Jeep Wrangler ‘s iconic seven-hole grille and round headlights, the Jeep Renegade was created to showcase the brand’s robust lines with youthfulness, versatility and presence. All this, without deriving from any known passenger car, symbolizing all of North American style and ingenuity.
Interior
With an innovative design, the Renegade combines space, refinement and high technology in its interior. The cabin, named “Tek-Tonic” by the designers, mixes subtle shapes with more rustic and functional details.
The SUV’s interior also features a multimedia center with a 5 or 6.5-inch touch screen, a premium sound system with eight speakers, a multifunctional steering wheel, automatic cruise control, a subwoofer and a Beats amplifier.
Additionally, the Jeep Renegade’s My Sky sunroof can be completely removed, giving passengers an incredible view without leaving the car. The seats can be folded in up to four different configurations to create more interior space.
Security
Even though it was evaluated in the entry-level version, which only has the mandatory front airbags, the Jeep Renegade obtained the maximum score in tests carried out by Latin NCAP , an institute that evaluates the safety of vehicles sold in Latin America, becoming the safest car ever made in Brazil.
In the frontal collision test at 64 km/h, the body remained practically intact, with an acceptable level of panel deformation. The institute also considered that the seat belts (with pretensioners) and airbags worked well together, providing adequate safety for the head, torso and legs of the driver and passenger.
In the test, the SUV also provided adequate protection for children aged 1.5 and three.
Following the new regulations for securing child seats and equipped with Isofix hooks, in addition to efficient seat belts, the Renegade managed to prevent excessive movement of the test dummies. Finally, the vehicle gained points in the test for including a clear guide for installing child seats in the manual, as well as labels explaining the most recommended positions.
Differentials
The Renegade Sport is also a champion when it comes to surprises. This is because the SUV is equipped with numerous items that are not found in other vehicles. Such as the exclusive Uconnect system , with GPS navigation, Bluetooth, voice command and USB ports, located under the armrest between the front seats and at the bottom of the console.
The electric and automatic handbrake is another distinguishing feature of the Renegade. It automatically activates the brake when the car stops and puts the gear in “park” . When the car moves off, the brake is released.
To make life easier for consumers, the Renegade also has a “single touch” function for opening and closing all windows. Another unique feature of the Renegade is a 127-volt outlet with 150 W of power at the end of the center console, available for the rear seat. It can be used to connect various electronic devices, such as notebooks, chargers, portable DVD players, etc.
The Renegade also has a speed limiter . With this function, it is possible to program a maximum speed, where the car only accelerates up to the chosen speed. The Renegade’s on-board computer also includes a tire pressure indicator, engine water temperature, transmission oil temperature, engine oil temperature and battery voltage.

Produced in Brazil since 2015, the Renegade is offered by Jeep in 5 versions, in addition to the special 75th anniversary series.
Renegade 1.8
The entry-level version of the line, the Jeep Renegade 1.8 is ideal for those who don’t want to give up power or elegance. It comes equipped with an alarm, multifunction steering wheel, fog lights, alloy wheels and parking sensors.
Sport
With Fiat’s well-known 1.8 16 V E.torQ Evo engine, the Renegade Sport has a 1.8 Flex engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also has in its standard package 16-inch alloy wheels, front airbags, manual air conditioning, cruise control, electric steering, rear parking sensor, electric parking brake, electric mirrors, windows and locks and alarm.
Longitude
Considered by Jeep itself to be the best-selling model in the line, the Renegade Longitude evokes the model’s more urban personality. This mid-range version is available in two configurations, one with a 1.8 flex engine and six-speed automatic transmission and the other with a 2.0 turbodiesel A/T engine with nine speeds. The SUV also features front-wheel drive, a multimedia system with a five-inch touchscreen and a multifunctional steering wheel with voice commands.
Limited Edition
Available only in the flex model, the Renegade Limited Edition offers leather seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, a seven-inch digital instrument panel, and side, curtain, and knee airbags. Based on the Longitude 1.8 flex version with a six-speed automatic transmission, the Limited Edition is still capable of generating power of 130 hp and 132 hp, and torque of 18.6 kgfm and 19.1 kgfm.
Trailhawk
The top-of-the-line version of the Jeep Renegade comes with everything Jeep has to offer, including the mechanical set. The Trailhawk is the only compact utility vehicle that offers a turbodiesel engine. The engine is the Multijet II, capable of producing 170 hp and 35.7 kgfm of maximum torque, available from 1,750 RPM.
Special 75th Anniversary Series
Based on the traditional military model, with a 1.8 Flex or 2.0 Diesel engine, the Renegade 75 Years was launched in Brazil to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Jeep brand. The edition will be limited to 2,000 units, in white, black and the exclusive Recon Green.
The new features include roof racks and 17-inch wheels, as well as a new logo alluding to the commemorative series on the front doors, with the silhouette of the pioneering Willys MB from 1941 .
Batman and Superman
In the United States, the Jeep Renegade has a dark look, inspired by the film “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Based on the Longitude version, the Renegade Dawn of Justice is available in two shades of black, Granite Crystal or Carbon Black. At the rear, a symbol identifies the special series, with a mix between the Batman emblem and the S of the Man of Steel.
