The ranking of the best-selling cars in Brazil in 2024
1 – Fiat Strada
The best-selling car in Brazil in 2024 was the Fiat Strada , with 120,603 units registered. The compact pickup became the three-time sales champion, maintaining the leadership for the third consecutive year.
Strada benefited from the renewal of its line in 2022, which brought new engines, gearboxes, versions and design, in addition to its versatility, being able to serve both urban and rural audiences .
2 – VW Polo
Second place went to the Volkswagen Polo , which beat the traditional Chevrolet Onix and Hyundai HB20. The Polo had 111,247 units sold in 2023, a growth of 63.5% compared to 2022.
The Polo’s success is due to the launch of the Polo Track, an entry-level version that replaced the Gol as the brand’s cheapest car.
The Polo Track offers good value for money, with a 1.0 three-cylinder engine, five-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, electric steering, electric windows and locks, radio with Bluetooth and USB, among other items.
3 – Chevrolet Onix
Third place was occupied by the Chevrolet Onix , which had 102,049 units registered in 2023. The compact hatchback had a recovery of 19.7% compared to 2022, when it was in fifth position.
The Onix has remained one of the most popular cars in Brazil, thanks to its extensive dealership network, its good reputation in the market and its range of technology and connectivity.
With a 1.0 turbo engine with up to 116 hp, the hatchback also has a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, multimedia center with 8-inch screen, on-board Wi-Fi, wireless cell phone charger, parking assistant, among other features.
4 – Hyundai HB20
Fourth place went to the Hyundai HB20 , which had 88,908 units sold in 2023. The compact hatchback saw a 7.6% drop compared to 2022, when it was the best-selling car in Brazil. The HB20 lost ground to its competitors, but it still remained one of the favorites of Brazilians, especially for its five-year warranty, its modern design and its reliable mechanics.
The HB20 offers a 1.0 turbo engine with up to 120 hp, six-speed manual or automatic transmission, multimedia center with 8-inch screen, rear camera, parking sensor, stability and traction control, among other items.
5 – Onix Plus
Fifth place went to the Chevrolet Onix Plus , which had 74,898 units sold in 2023. The compact sedan had a stable performance compared to 2022, when it also came in fifth place.
The Onix Plus has established itself as the best-selling sedan in Brazil, surpassing its direct rivals, such as the Volkswagen Virtus and the Hyundai HB20S. The Onix Plus has the same attributes as the Onix hatchback, but with a larger trunk, of 469 liters, and a longer wheelbase, of 2.60 meters, ensuring more space and comfort for passengers.
Other models that stood out among the best-selling cars of 2023
In addition to the five best-selling cars of 2023, other models also stood out in the Brazilian market.
Among SUVs, the Volkswagen T-Cross was the best-selling, with 72,448 registrations, followed by the Chevrolet Tracker and the Hyundai Creta.
When we talk about medium-sized pickup trucks, the Toyota Hilux was the best-selling, with 46,921 registrations, followed by the Chevrolet S10 and the Ford Ranger.
Now, among mid-size sedans, the Toyota Corolla was the best-selling, with 42,989 registrations, followed by the Honda Civic and the Volkswagen Jetta.
As for electric cars, the BYD Dolphin was the best-selling, with 6,813 registrations, followed by the Renault Zoe and the JAC iEV20.
